An Ad Hoc Committee on Communications is being formed to address the upcoming launch of the Village’s new communications platform. The goal of this Committee is threefold:

  • Develop strategies to engage residents
  • Ensure that the experience is user-friendly
  • Solicit feedback

Village LED Streetlight Pilot Program Underway
The Village LED Streetlight Pilot Program is underway with pilot LED streetlights installed in a number of locations throughout the Village.  Pilot lights are installed on section of White Plains (Post) Road, Heathcote Road, Mamaroneck Road, Tisdale Road.  Two additional lights will be installed on Springdale Road later in July.  Specific locations can be found on the attached maps. read more ...

Traffic Advisory Notice Crane Road
Starting Monday June 27th, 2016, Con Edison will replace approximately 1,800 linear feet of existing gas main on Crane Road. In order to avoid future gas main failures, the aging main must be replaced. The gas main is located on Crane Road between Post Road (Route 22) and Stonehouse Road. The construction is expected to be completed within 8 to 10 weeks, weather permitting.

Proposed Con Edison Increase - Public Hearing
The New York State Public Service Commission is sponsoring public statement hearings regarding proposed increases for Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.'s (Con Edison) electric and gas service rates.  In January 2016, the Company filed for new electric and gas rates to be effective beginning January 1, 2017.

Clean Energy Standard Program - Public Hearing
In December 2015, Governor Andrew Cuomo directed the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS) to develop a Clean Energy Standard (CES) program.  The CES mandates that by the year 2030, half of the electricity used in the State will come from renewable resources such as solar, wind and hydro.  The Governor also directed the DPS to explore ways to keep emission-free nuclear power facilities operational to continue New York's greenhouse gas emissions reductions.  Proposed as a core component of Governor Cuomo's Reforming the Energy Vision, the benefits of the CES are highlighted in a complementary factsheet at the website and searching for "Clean Energy Standard."

Noise Ordinance and Visual Obstruction Reminders

Noise Law

Property owners are reminded of Village Code Chapter 205 restricting the use of gasoline powered leaf blowers from June 1 through September 30. Please refrain from using the blowers during this period and remind your gardeners as well.

Visual Obstructions

The Village Engineering Department reminds property owners to prune trees, bushes and plantings located at or near any street curve, corner or intersection in accordance with Village Code Chapter 294. These plantings can result in traffic safety conditions by obstructing the view of motorists and pedestrians. Village Code Enforcement personnel will be inspecting streets in the Village for these hazards so please keep your plantings trimmed.

The Personnel Committee of the Village Board is asking residents interested in volunteering to serve on Village Boards, Councils and Committees to submit their names for consideration.  Candidates interested in serving on any Board, Council or Committee should apply.

Carton Recycling has come to Westchester County!

County Executive Rob Astorino announced today that just in time for Earth Day, residents of Westchester County’s Refuse Disposal District (RDD) will be able to include beverage cartons when they put their recyclables out to the curb for collection.

Scarsdale LED Streetlight Project is now underway!!
The Scarsdale Board of Trustees has established an Ad Hoc LED Committee to research Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lights in order to improve lighting, reduce Village costs for electricity and maintenance, and conserve energy.
