The Scarsdale Fire Fair is held annually in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week. Among this year's fire prevention demonstrations, our members illustrated the danger of attempting to extinguish a grease or oil fire with water. Instead, slide a pan lid over the flames to smother the fire, then turn off the heat. Leave the lid in place until the pan cools. Never carry the pan outside. (Jon Thaler Photo - October 14, 2017)
