Permit Application Instructions

  • Applications for 2023-2024 permits will not be accepted prior to Friday, September 1, 2023 and sold on a rolling basis thereafter
  • Detailed information on specific permit types, parking lots and garages is listed below. Please review to find the permit that is the best fit for you.

How to Submit an Application

  • Applications must be submitted by mail or the Village Hall drop-box
    • No in-person applications will be accepted
    • The requested permit type must be written on the front of the envelope in the lower left-hand corner
  • Fees are accepted only by check or money order
  • Mailed applications must be in a business-size envelope addressed to the Village Clerk's Office, Village of Scarsdale, 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583.

Processing Details

  • Permits are sold and granted on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Preference is given to Village of Scarsdale residents and merchants during the first 2-3 weeks of sales in September.
  • The Village will email successful permit applicants a receipt to notify them that a permit has been issued
  • Unsuccessful permit applications will automatically be added to the appropriate waiting list. Please be sure to include all requested information and documents
  • Village parking permits will not be issued to individuals with outstanding parking tickets.
    • You may verify the status of parking tickets by clicking here.
    • Contact the Court Clerk’s office at 914-722-1120 regarding any outstanding parking tickets

How to Update Existing Permits

  • Permit holders cannot park any vehicle unless it has been registered with the Clerk’s office.
  • Temporary vehicles cannot park unless registered on permit in advance of parking

General Permit Parking Rules and Notes

  • Enforcement Hours are Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 6 PM, unless otherwise marked
  • Permit holders are advised that having a permit does not guarantee a parking space.
  • All permits except for Motorcycle/Scooter Permits, may be shared by two vehicles, however, only one vehicle may utilize said permit at a time.
  • Parking is free in all locations between the hours of 6 PM - 11 PM
  • Parking is prohibited between the hours of 11 PM - 6 AM, unless otherwise marked.

Christie Place Garage: Levels B1 & B2

  • Located at 64 East Parkway

  • Permit required to park from 11 PM to 9:30 AM

    • 8-hour parking is available for non-permit holders from 9:30 AM - 6 PM through the Pango app only

  • Overnight parking is available to Christie Place Permit holders only

The Christie Place Garage offers long-term, fixed-price parking serving primarily commuters. Christie Place permit holders may park on Levels B1 & B2 of the Christie Place Garage (entrance on East Parkway). There are approximately 240 parking spaces. Currently, no permit is required to park in the garage lower levels from Friday at 6 PM to Monday at 6 AM.  


Freightway: Beatty Lot

  • Located off Garth Road

  • Freightway Permit required

  • Overnight parking available April 01 - October 31

The Beatty Lot offers long-term, fixed-price parking for Scarsdale Resident and Non-Resident Commuters (permit required).  Freightway permit holders may park in the Beatty lot 24/7, except during the months of November 1 – March 31, when overnight parking is not permitted in uncovered lots.

Freightway: Garage

The Freightway Garage operates 24/7 and offers long-term, fixed-price parking for Scarsdale Resident and Non-Resident Commuters (permit required). A pedestrian bridge is located on the 3rd level providing easy access to Scarsdale Ave and the northbound side for Metro North. Commuters can access the southbound platform by using the walkway underneath the Popham Road Bridge. Permit holders may park in the garage and in the Beatty lot 24/7, except during the months of November 1 – March 31, when overnight parking is not permitted in uncovered lots (i.e. no overnight parking Levels 5A, 5B & Beatty Lot). There are approximately 495 parking spaces at Freightway Garage. No permit is required to park in the garage from Friday at 6 PM to Monday at 6 AM.

Freightway: Handicap Lot

  • Located at the end of Depot Place

  • Freightway Permit required

Freightway permit holders with a valid handicap permit may park at Depot Place in the handicap spots identified for Freightway Permits (directly next to the southbound platform). 

Freightway: ProPark Valet Parking Lot

  • Located at 20 Freightway

  • Daily parking or monthly permits available

  • Hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 5 AM - 9 PM

The Valet lot is located directly next to the Freightway Garage and is privately operated by ProPark, a premier Parking Management Company. The Valet operates from 5 AM-9 PM, Monday – Friday, and offers both a Monthly permit option and daily parking**. Village of Scarsdale residents are provided preference for permits at this lot (if you're a Village resident and have difficulty obtaining a permit please contact the Village Manager's Office 722-1110). Non-Residents may be placed on a waitlist. 

  •  Maximum monthly permit prices are set as follows (tax not included): 
    • January 01, 2023 – December 31, 2023: $165 regular / $190 oversized vehicles
  • Hourly Transient Parking*: 
    • January 01, 2023 – December 31, 2023: 
      $3.00/hr regular vehicles / $4.50/hr oversized vehicles
      (Not to exceed $18.00/day for regular vehicles or $22.00/day for oversized vehicles)
  •  *Ask about Business-Validated Hourly Parking!
  • “Flex Pass Debit Option” for parking customers that are (i) commuting under a flexible or part-time schedule to NYC or (ii) not Business Validated: 
  •  A book of five (5) parking passes: $60.00 regular vehicles / $70.00 oversized vehicles
  • Book of ten (10) parking passes: $100 regular vehicles / $120.00 oversized vehicles

Meter Lot Permit Locations

  • Located at Scarsdale Avenue Lot and Depot Place

  • Permit holder hours: Monday - Saturday, 6 AM - 6 PM

  • Non-permit holders Hours: Monday - Friday, 11 AM - 6 PM & Saturday, 6 AM - 6 PM

  • All permit holders must also pay the meter for each hour parked 

  • Up to 12-hour parking

The Meter Permit is intended for use by Village Residents that do not commute on a regular basis. This option provides permit holders early access to park, Monday - Friday, starting at 6 AM in both the Scarsdale Avenue Lot and in identified spaces located on Depot Place. Meter Permit holders are still required to pay applicable meter rates. These spaces are open for non-permit holders after 11 AM Monday – Friday,  as well as all day on Saturday. The meter fees must be paid 6 AM through 6 PM, Monday – Saturday (excluding holidays). The Scarsdale Avenue Lot has approximately 77 parking spaces and payment can be made via Cash, Credit/Debit, and Coin at a Multi-Space-Meter. Parking on Depot Place is limited to approximately 10 parking spaces and users must pay with quarters.

"Meter Permits" are not prorated. Meter fees are $1/hour for the first 4 hours, and $.75 for each hour thereafter (i.e. 4 hours= $4, 8 hours = $7, 12 hours = $10).

Motorcycle Lot

There are motorcycle/Scooter permit spaces located at the north end of Depot Place. Permits are available to both residents, non-residents, and merchants.


Station Premium Lot

The Station Premium Lot is located along East Parkway across from the entrance of the Christie Place Garage. Station Premium Permits are perfect for those commuters looking to have the quickest accessibility to and from the Scarsdale Train Station, just a one-minute walking distance away. 


Village Hall Lot

  • Located at 1001 Post Road

  • Enforcement hours: Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 6 PM 

  • Village Hall Permit required, only offered to residents and merchants

  • No parking after 11 PM

An approximate 15-minute walk to the Village Center/Train station. This option is available to cost-conscious commuters/merchants. Village Hall Lot permit holders may not park overnight in this lot.
