Paint Recycling

The Village of Scarsdale now accepts leftover paint at the Scarsdale Recycling Center for recycling! Both the can and the paint will be recycled!

 

To participate, bring your sealed paint cans in their original containers to the Paint Recycling area (which is next to the food scrap drop-off site) at the Scarsdale Recycling Center, 110 Secor Road, Scarsdale during open hours which are Monday through Saturday from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

 

ACCEPTED paint products include:

 

House paint and primers (latex and oil-based)

Deck coatings, floor paint (including elastomeric) and concrete sealers

Clear finish (e.g., varnish, shellac)

Interior and exterior architectural paint (latex and oil-based)

Field and lawn paints

Metal coatings, rust preventatives

Waterproofing concrete/masonry/wood sealers and repellents (No tar or bitumen-based allowed)

 

The following materials are NOT accepted:

 

Leaking, unlabeled or empty containers

Aerosol spray paints

Drums or containers larger than 5 gallons

Hazardous waste or chemicals such as paint thinner, solvents, motor oil, spackle, glue, caulk, adhesive, roofing tar, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, etc.

Traffic and road marking paints

Auto and marine paints

Art and craft paints

Deck cleaners

Industrial Maintenance (IM) coating

Paint additives, colorants, tints and resins

Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) paints and finishes

2-component coatings

Wood preservative (containing pesticides)

Roof patch and repair

Asphalt, tar and bitumen-based products

 

These items cannot be disposed of at the Scarsdale Recycling Center, or in the trash, and must be brought to the Westchester County HMRF.
