Freightway Garage - East Elevation (jpg)

Reminder: Let's Talk Freightway

Tonight at 7:00 PM in Rutherford Hall, also streaming LIVE, developers will present to the public their preliminary design concepts for Freightway Site redevelopment. The Village Board strongly encourages your participation in this exciting stage of contemplating the Freightway Site's future. Whatever its future may hold, one thing is clear: Any redevelopment project that advances for construction will need to first prove it pencils in our favor on a net fiscal and community benefit basis.  Be there. Listen. Talk. Participate. Help shape the future, Scarsdalians!

Coffee with the Mayor

The next Coffee with the Mayor is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, at Starbucks, 51 East Parkway. Deputy Mayor Jane Veron and Trustee Justin Arest will join Mayor Samwick as part of the Village Board's continuing commitment to meeting with community members, listening to their concerns, and providing opportunity for candid conversation in a convenient, informal setting. So, drop-in just to say, Hi!, or discuss matters of global relevance -- it's your call, Scarsdalians! In any case, Marc, Jane, and Justin look forward to seeing you!

A Hall of Famer in Our Midst

Kathy Hurwitz, Village of Scarsdale Senior Citizen Coordinator, was inducted into the Westchester County Seniors Hall of Fame. To be nominated, seniors must have made significant and enduring contributions to enhance Westchester’s quality of life through their professional work, volunteer achievements, or both. Kathy, a Village of Scarsdale employee for over 20 years, long-time resident, and former Scarsdale Schools teacher, takes great pride in serving seniors in Scarsdale and beyond. Kudos, and thank you for all you do, Kathy!

Winter Weather Preparedness (jpg)

Winter Weather: Are you Prepared?

Are you prepared for winter storm season? Look out your window . . . winter is on the way and it's a good time to revisit your family's level of emergency preparedness. Do you have an emergency kit? Are you up-to-speed on home heating safety? How about contending with power outages? In a weather emergency, you need to be prepared to help yourself, as utility and governmental emergency services are often overwhelmed, initially. Emergency prep is critical to staying safe. Prepare NOW, if you haven't already, and please check on at-risk neighbors during severe weather.

Village Board Meeting Update

The December 10 Village Board agenda included approval of a License Agreement to continue the popular Freightway Garage valet service (p. 23), and agreement engaging professional design services for a new Middle School Comfort Station (p. 47), and others. It was noted that the annual Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corp fundraising drive is falling short. This outstanding, critical public amenity is not funded through Village taxes and needs YOUR financial support. The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for January 14, 2020, at 8:00 PM.
