Freightway Bridge Condition (jpg)

Freightway Priorities & Preferences

Although a hold has been placed on the timeline for potential Freightway Redevelopment, the Village Board wishes to remind residents that we continue to actively seek resident priorities and preferences for the site. As most residents are aware, the Freightway structure is not only aesthetically incongruent with Scarsdale's standards, but its physical condition requires significant ongoing investment simply to keep it limping along, let alone restore it to a good state of repair. A prior Condition Report is being updated to help inform decision-making on a moving forward basis.

Please consider helping to continue this tradition through service on one of the Village's volunteer boards, councils, or committees. Census 2020 - Make Us Count (jpg)

Everyone Counts

Census 2020 is getting started in mid-March and it is important to be counted. In fact, every 400 people who are not counted equates to a loss of about $1 Million in funding for New Yorkers - each year. The Census is not only used to allocate federal funding, but it also the basis for determining congressional representation. For more information about the upcoming Census, visit Make Us Count or 2020census.gov. Responses will be collected by mail, by phone, or online. Census responses are strictly confidential, by law.
Dog on Leash

It's a Ruff Life

Did you know that New York State Law requires the owner of any dog reaching four months old to apply for a dog license? Licensed dogs are issued a metal tag, which is to be attached to the dog's collar. The Village Clerk's Office manages the dog licensing program and has published a Dog Brochure with important dog owner information. When you're walking your friend, please be sure to clean-up. Oh, and ICYMI, cat's don't need to be licensed. Not to rub your fur the wrong way, but isn't that purrrfect -- a NYS catvantage for feline aficionados!

Village Board Meeting Update

The January 28 Village Board agenda include a number of gifts, including two for the library (p.95-97), two for police (p. 41-46), and one for fire (p. 47). Purchases for the Scarsdale Public Library project (p.49-95) were also authorized. It was noted that the Village has experienced significant savings in connection with the Library Director's operating plan during library construction, and no additional General Fund dollars have been needed. The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for February 11, 2020, at 8:00 PM; come early for a Traffic Safety Village Board Work Session at 6:00 PM.
