Freightway Study Needs Your Input

If you've been there or seen it, you've likely noted that the Freightway Garage site is a candidate for new economic redevelopment. You may have even opined on ways to improve the site. 67,000 Pounds in Six Months!

No, it's not the latest fad diet -- it's an amazing indication of the Scarsdale Food Scrap Recycling Program's success! The program is the first of its kind in Westchester County. Each week, participating residents bring over two tons of food scraps to the Scarsdale Recycling Center to be turned into useful compost. Thank you to the more than 750 households that are now participating! Interested in recycling your food scraps or want to learn more? Don't Get Soaked: Conserve Water

Did you know that Scarsdale water consumption triples in the summer months, primarily due to lawn irrigation? High water consumption is costly to residents and challenging for Village infrastructure to support. Oftentimes, it is not even necessary. Make sure your irrigation system does not have any leaks, and access the latest technology to make sure your sprinklers only turn-on when necessary. Also, consider converting turf grass to native plantings, using grass and leaf mulching, and other cost-saving strategies to generally reduce water consumption.

Village Board Meeting Update

The July 25, 2017, Village Board meeting was a "Limited Agenda" meeting. Limited Agenda meetings are scheduled during the summer months when residents, staff, and members of the Village Board tend to spend time away from Scarsdale with family and friends. Yesterday's meeting included Review of the Bills (various payments made by the Village) and a single agenda item, an Appointment to the Scarsdale Arts Council (p. 23). The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for August 08, 2017, at 8:00 PM. See here for all upcoming meetings.
