Picking Apples? Not Nearly as Fun

Why drive up north to pick apples when there's the Scarsdale Fall Festival and Scarecrow Making event?? Join the Scarsdale PRC and Weinberg Nature Center for this annual celebration and fundraiser! Admission includes: animal shows, nature crafts and walks, games, music, scarecrow making, and MUCH MORE! Oh, and for those of you that will not feel complete without apples, there's also apple cidering! The event is at the Pool Complex on Sunday, October 15th, from 1PM to 4PM. Pre-registration is required, and food is included.

Show Your Library Some ? Love ?

Thanks in part to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin's efforts to secure a $500,000 New York State grant, Village and Library officials recently celebrated groundbreaking for construction of Library Loft at Supply Field, 244 Heathcote Rd. Library Loft will support library operations on a temporary basis during the Scarsdale Public Library Addition & Renovation Project. More than $5.7M in Project gifts and pledges have been secured; an additional $1.8M is needed for construction to begin in spring 2018 -- show your library some ? love ? !!!

No, it isn't a fashion statement: It's pink with a purpose. The Scarsdale Police are wearing pink patches to promote public awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection and the ongoing fight against the disease. Breast cancer impacts over 200,000 women and their families each year, and more than 40,000 women die from the disease annually. Educate yourself about the disease, talk with others about it, and support research to find a cure. #PinkPatchProject.

Communications Committee Report

Following a year of hard work seeking to complete its charge from the Village Board, the Ad-Hoc Committee on Communications presented its Communications Assessment and Preliminary Recommendations Report at the Village Board's October 10th Committee of the Whole meeting. But for this thoughtful, dedicated group of volunteers, you would not be receiving Scarsdale Official today. Stay tuned for more great things from this team, as their valued contributions to enhanced communications have earned them, yep, more work.

Village Board Meeting Update

Among other important items, the Village Board's October 10, 2017, Regular Meeting agenda included authorization to lease and ambulance for use by the Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corp (p. 33) and approval of FY 16/17 budget closeout transfers (p. 56). Residents are reminded to adhere to fall leaf pick-up schedule and rules, and to encourage friends and neighbors to sign-up for NotifyMe.
