Property Tax Info and Deadlines

Just a reminder: County property taxes are due by April 30th. As previously announced, the County tax bill was not eligible for pre-payment; therefore, full payment is due April 30th. If you submitted a property tax pre-payment in December 2017, it will be applied to the Village property tax bill, which gets mailed on or about July 1st. Also, all exemption filings are due no later than May 01, 2018. Common exemptions include the Basic Star Exemption and Senior Citizen's Exemption.

Anatomical Wonder - A Giant Brain!!

. . . and you don't need to go to Coney Island. No snake oil. This is the real deal. Come take a tour in the mega inflatable brain, as the Scarsdale Drug and Alcohol Task Force presents Healthy Teen Brain Day in the Scarsdale Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, April 19th, from 2:45 to 6:00 PM. The DATF invites all students in grades 5 through 12 to participate, with parents also welcome to attend. To learn more about the impacts of drug and alcohol use on developing teen brains, visit the National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teens.

Public Hearing: Tree Law Updates

How do you feel about Scarsdale's Village in a Park identity? Do the trees in our neighborhoods contribute significantly to the Village's aesthetic appeal? What level of regulatory protection should exist for trees on private property? What about private property rights? A public hearing concerning proposed amendments to the Tree Law has been continued to April 24th at 8:00 PM in Rutherford Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend and express their viewpoints, but may also submit written comments by email using clerk@scarsdale.com.

Shop 'Till You Drop . . . and Share!

A village-wide Shop & Share event is planned for Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27. All proceeds from the spring event will benefit Family Services of Westchester (FSW). Participating Scarsdale merchants plan to either donate a percentage of proceeds or pledge amount to FSW during this two-day event. Merchants will have the opportunity to display merchandise for sale outside their store-fronts, similar to the annual summer sidewalk sale, and many will be offering promotions as well. So, mark your calendars: Buy great stuff and help others.

Village Board Meeting Update

The Village Board's Regular Meeting held on April 10, 2018, featured some public hearings, as well as an Annual Meetings and Appointments Resolution (p. 47) and a contract for pool maintenance and repair (p. 95). The public hearings included the Tentative Village Budget (p. 38), proposed amendments to the Historic Preservation Law (p. 40), proposed amendments to the Tree Law (p. 67), and a Cold Ware Veterans Taxation Amendment (p. 106). Residents and other interested parties are encouraged to review the meeting calendar.
