Make No Little Plans

. . . they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized -- Daniel Burnham. Imagining redevelopment of the Freightway Garage site, what magic stirs your blood, Scarsdalians? Well, the Freightway Site Redevelopment Study probed that question, resulting in a vision and seven principles. The planning effort is being recognized with a Commendation for Outstanding Achievement by the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation. Stay tuned for additional public engagement, developer concepts, and more!

SALT: Charitable Gift Fund Hearing

If you've been following the "SALT Deduction" developments, you may know that NYS recently passed legislation authorizing local governments to establish Charitable Gift Reserve funds as a potential means to overcome adverse federal tax law changes. On May 8th (page 67), the Village Board scheduled a public hearing for June 12th to consider forming such a Charitable Gift Reserve Tax Credit. The Village recommends that all taxpayers, especially those paying AMT, consult a tax advisor; benefits vary and federal tax deductibility is not guaranteed.

March 2018 Nor'easters Report

The March 2018 Nor’easters hammered Westchester County, leaving many Scarsdalians without power for over 10 days - an abysmal failure in ConEd's emergency response. While the NYSPSC continues its investigation, local, County, and NYS elected officials from throughout Westchester County, including Mayor Hochvert, have diligently collaborated to author a report citing utility deficiencies and calling for reforms. The report has been submitted to the NYSPSC for their investigation, as well as presented to ConEd and NYSEG executive leadership.
