Retiring Village Attorney, Wayne Esannason

So It Comes to an End... and a New

After serving 19 years as Scarsdale Village Attorney, Wayne Esannason is retiring his position effective June 30th. We thank Mr. Esannason for his dedicated service and wish him happiness in retirement. At its June 26th Board meeting, the Village Board appointed Ms. Angela Sapienza-Martin Esq. as Village Attorney to replace Mr. Esannason. Ms. Sapienza-Martin graduated law school in 2009 and has previously served as Scarsdale’s Assistant and Deputy Village Attorney. For the past five years she has held the position of Human Resources Director, handling all labor and risk management items as well as tort and property damage claims against the Village. The Village is actively recruiting for a replacement for Ms. Sapienza-Martin who will manage both departments in the interim. We wish Angela the best in her new position.

conEdison Smart Meters Are Coming

conEdison has begun installing "Smart Meters"  throughout Scarsdale. A smart meter is a "... digital meter that communicates between your residence or business and Con Edison through a secure wireless communication network." Smart Meters will allow users to track their energy usage and will generally improve electric service. Residents can expect to see Con Edison Smart Meter Trucks throughout the Village through December 2019. Additional information on this program can be found in conEdison's Smart Meter FAQ.

Around Town...

The 2018 Village of Scarsdale tax bills will be mailed on June 29th. As always, taxes can be paid  online, via mail or in person. If you prepaid your taxes in December 2017, your bill will reflect such prepayment and any additional amount due based on the FY2018/19 budget, tax levy and warrant.

Pursuant to a NYS statute adopted this spring, the Village Board Approved the creation of a Charitable Gifts Fund Reserve Fund. The theory is that by allowing contributions to such fund, taxpayers may be entitled to deduct up to 95% of those payments as a charitable contribution which may not be subject to the $10,000 limitation set by the Federal government in 2017 for State and Local Taxes (SALT).  We are developing an FAQ that will be posted on the Treasurer Webpage in the coming days.

Westchester County Water District #1 Announced that construction of the EPA required ultraviolet (UV) water treatment plants to control the micro-organism cryptosporidium, are now completed.  The Village is now receiving compliant enhanced UV treated drinking water. As such, water customers will no longer receive the quarterly warning notices starting with the August 1st billing
