It's a Sign

We're talking physical, not metaphysical signs. Because of their range of benefits and potential impacts, signs are subject to a variety of local regulations. In general, and primarily in response to public safety and aesthetic concerns, the public right-of-way is reserved for governmental and traffic control signage. Should non-governmental signs be allowed in the public right-of-way? The Village Board is considering how best to regulate signs in the public right-of-way and needs your input at the Law Committee meeting on 10/09/18 at 7:00 PM.

Picking Apples? Not Nearly as Fun!

Why drive up north to pick apples when there's the Scarsdale Fall Festival and Scarecrow Making event?? Join the Scarsdale PRC and Weinberg Nature Center for this annual celebration and fundraiser! Admission includes: music, animal shows, nature crafts, games, scarecrow making, and MUCH MORE! The event is at the Pool Complex on Sunday, October 7th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Pre-registration is required and food is included . . . but scarecrow clothes are not. So, unless you're wearing clothes to spare, be sure to bring some extras along.

Mow, Don't Blow!

Mowing your leaves - also known as mulch mowing - into tiny pieces on your lawn, is healthier for your lawn and soil than piling or bagging them to be removed. As the shredded leaves decompose, their nutrients enhance the soil and provide free organic mulch for your garden beds. The pollutants from leaf blowers and trucks are avoided. Homeowners around Scarsdale have been mulch mowing leaves for many years with great results. If you use a landscaper, ask them to mulch mow your leaves instead of blowing the leaves into a pile at the curb.

Village Board Meeting Update

The September 25, 2018, Village Board agenda featured several items, including award of a Unit Citation for outstanding performance by fire department personnel in responding to an accident involving a school bus on Fenimore Road (p. 59) and a resolution directing staff to identify a qualified firm to develop plans and specifications for a prospective dog park at Weinberg Nature Center (p. 84). The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for October 09, 2018, at 8:00 PM. Check the calendar for all upcoming meetings, including a Road Resurfacing discussion.
