Freightway Site Design Spoof with High-Rise and Concert Venue (jpg)

Calling all Monday Morning QBs!

Yes, hindsight is often 20/20. With commissioning of the Freightway Site Redevelopment Study in spring 2017, the Village initiated a resident-focused planning process including public meetings, surveys, and walking tours. Most recently, seven prospective developers submitted design concepts for community consideration. The Village Board is scheduling a January 22 meeting to feedback on the concepts. Don't wait to reflect on what could have been -- participate in shaping the outcome. Email comments to mayor@scarsdale.com are also welcome!

Household Fire Safety Inspections

Burning the candle at both ends during the holiday season? Well, take time today to schedule a FREE household fire safety inspection performed by Scarsdale Fire Department personnel. In 2017, there was $11.7M in damage associated with fires that began with holiday decorations, nationally. More generally, there were over 350,000 home fires in 2017, resulting in over 3,400 civilian deaths. To help reduce the risk of fire, residents are encouraged to request a free fire safety inspection by calling the Scarsdale Fire Department at 914-722-1215.

Take it or Leave It

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Scarsdalians have accomplished a lot with recycling, including food scraps. Source reduction, creating less waste and reusing materials before they enter the waste stream, are also important strategies for reducing the volume of waste incinerated or landfilled. Complementing the Furniture Donation Program, the Village has launched Take It or Leave It, a household goods exchange station at the Recycling Center -- just look for the re-purposed bus shelter. Leave something good; take something good.
