Weinberg Nature Center Open House

Entering a forest is like opening a present from a good friend; a combination of anticipation, surprise, and appreciation. Did you know that Scarsdale is home to somewhat of a secret forest, one that also boasts a kid-friendly nature center? Well, if you haven't been to the Weinberg Nature Center, take time to attend tomorrow's open house -- everyone is invited, and there will be info, food, and fun! While there, be sure to hike the Leatherstocking Trail. Oh, and here's a Scarsdale Official insider tip: One or more rare species may be observed on-site.

Putting on the Pounds, 500K of 'em

Nah, this isn't about the latest fad diet . . . it's about a significant milestone achieved by the Scarsdale Food Scrap Recycling Program: Scarsdalians have collected over 500,000 pounds of food scraps, which were then turned into useful compost! Yep, count 'em -- that's 1/2 million pounds of food that would otherwise have gone into the trash. Way to go Scarsdale! If you're not participating in the program yet, it's easy. There's even a helpful guide, which is also published in Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish. Waste: A cycle, not a one-way street.

Freightway Site Listening Session

The Village Board held a listening session on Tuesday, January 22, in order to gather feedback on design concepts received from developers in response to the RFEI issued in July 2018. The next step will be to draft and issue an RFP, with the goal of identifying a preferred developer to construct a project reflective of community needs and aspirations for the site, as documented through the public process that supported creation of the Freightway Site Redevelopment Study. The Village Board continues to seek public feedback to inform the RFP.
