The Life You Save May be Your Own

In an emergency, seconds count. Imagine you're a police or fireman dispatched to a Scarsdale home. Arriving in the general area, you're unable to immediately identify the exact house you're supposed to respond to because one or more properties are missing visible addresses. It's an emergency, but the seconds are ticking away; resorting to other address identification tools takes more time. Not a good situation, of course. The absence of a visible property addresses places life and property at-risk. Please take time to properly display your home address.

Invasive Species Awareness

It's New York State Invasive Species Awareness Week. Invasive species are plants, animals, insects, pathogens, and parasites that are not native to an area and may cause significant harm to human health, the economy, or the environment. The Village has undertaken projects like the South Fox Meadow knotweed remediation and residents are encouraged to learn about invasive species and to also take steps to help stop their spread. Among others, Garlic Mustard and Japanese Knotweed are locally common invasives. Spread the word, not the invasives.

Other Capital Projects being undertaken around the community include work focused on repairing and improving the state of underground infrastructure, including water and sewer lines. Additionally, grant-supported projects, including the Heathcote Bridge and the Hutch River Stormwater Project are moving forward in 2019, too.
