Feel Safe, Be Safe

Scarsdale PD has your back. Police Chief Andy Matturro presented to the public and Village Board last night a number of insights into the exceptional work that the Scarsdale Police Department does to keep our Village one of the safest, most desirable communities in the nation to live, work, and play. If you ever need to contact Scarsdale PD from your cell phone for an emergency, dialing our 914.722.1200 number results in a faster response than dialing 911. Land line emergency calls should go through 911. Remember, if you see something, say something!

E-magine a Green Fleet

With the addition of our new Nissan Leaf electric vehicle, Scarsdale is saving money while helping to improve the environment! The Village's first electrical vehicle is anticipated to not only help reduce our carbon footprint and improve air quality, but to also reduce fleet costs. To illustrate, the ten-year ownership cost for a standard gasoline fleet vehicle is $34,801, while our Nissan Leaf will be $21,860. Scarsdale is proud to have taken this first important step toward electrifying its fleet, exhibiting both sound fiscal management and environmental leadership.

Tennis Ball Recycling Expands

There is a new bin at the Scarsdale Recycling Center and it serves a great purpose: Another place for residents to recycle tennis balls! The bright yellow collection bin is a grand slam, making it easier than ever to recycle tennis balls. Tennis ball recycling bins were placed at all of our Village tennis courts a few years ago, and thousands of balls have been recycled so far. Recycled tennis balls are sent to a company that grinds up the balls and uses them to make tennis courts. The successful recycling receptacles are still available at our tennis courts, too!

Village Board Meeting Update

The August 13 Village Board agenda included a variety of intermunicipal/intergovernmental agreements (pages 23, 37, 48, 69, and 79). Such agreements are noteworthy because they not only indicate collaboration with other organizations and levels of government, but also result in enhanced service delivery and reduced operating costs for the Village and its partners, thereby reducing the tax burden on Scarsdale residents. The next Village Board meeting is on August 27, 2019, an abbreviated summer meeting starting at 8:30 AM. Check the calendar for more dates & topics.
