Scarsdale Music Festival

The word is that it's no Coachella, and it sure isn't the first International Turntablist Federation World Finals held in NYC in 1999, but here's a Scarsdale Insider secret: Be. There. on. Saturday. Not only will there be live music without the yucky desert dust or incessant scratching, including local bands such as The Del Bocas, Where is Phi, The Mod Tones, and others, but there will be great food, a very special Zachys wine tasting event, family fun, including bouncy castles and more, and our friends at Rudy's are raffling a guitar! Get tickets and more info.

Coffee with the Mayor

The next Coffee with the Mayor -- and Deputy Mayor this time around -- is scheduled for Monday, September 16, at 6:00 pm at the Cafe in Balducci's, 15 Palmer Avenue. The Coffee is an opportunity to chat with Mayor Samwick and Deputy Mayor Veron in an informal conversational setting as part of the Village Board's continuing commitment to providing convenient access to key Scarsdale officials. There's no pre-set agenda, so please drop-in to discuss any subject of interest or concern. Marc and Jane look forward to seeing you!

Parking Garage Safety

The Village of Scarsdale parking garages have long-been safe places to park on a 24-7 basis. Over 40 high definition cameras provide 24-7 coverage at the Freightway Garage, and there are two "Code Blue" stations per level in Christie Place -- when the red button is pushed, the blue light rotates and the phone connects directly to the Scarsdale Police Department. The Scarsdale Police Department patrols both facilities, as well. Additionally, security cameras have recently been installed at Christie Place! Parking in our garages is safe and convenient!

September 11 Annual Observance

The Village of Scarsdale's 9/11 Annual Observance included a morning ceremony at the Scarsdale Public Safety Building. Emily Hansen, a talented Scarsdale High School Junior, performed the National Anthem and Amazing Grace. Among others, Fire Captain Christopher Mytych delivered moving and insightful comments. Captain Mytych recalled his visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and observed that youth perceive 9/11 differently, adding that our youngest military service members have birth dates after the tragic events of that day.

Village Board Meeting Update

The September 10 Village Board agenda was relatively light, having included approval of a couple of subdivision recreation fees, which are important in financially supporting Parks, Recreation, and Conservation needs (pages 51 and 63). A public hearing was also scheduled for September 24 to establish the number of taxicab licenses (page 14), and there was a public hearing on proposed amendment to the Ethics law (Page 6). The next Village Board meeting is on September 24, 2019. Check the calendar for more meeting dates & topics.
